Delhi Metro has started operations between Sarita Vihar and Badarpur paving the way for entire Central Secretariat - Badrapur corridor to become operational. The entire 20.16 km stretch from Central Secretariat to Badarpur has been opened for public.

This line was one of the most challenging to construct for the Delhi Metro as the total time available for construction was very short - 41 months.

The Central Secretariat - Badarpur corridor will have 16 stations, of which Central Secretariat, Khan Market, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and Jangpura will be under ground while as Lajpat Nagar, Moolchand, Kailash Colony, Nehru Place, Kalkaji Mandir, Govindpuri, Okhla, Jasola, Sarita Vihar, Mohan Estate, Tughlakabad and Badarpur stations will be on the elevated corridor.

Badarpur Flyover

The much-awaited Badarpur Flyover/elevated road has been opened for commuters from November 29, almost a month ahead of its official deadline. Badarpur one of the busiest intersections in the entire NCR would become signal free, bringing huge relief to thousands of commuters using the Delhi – Agra highway. With the opening of the flyover the travel time is expected to reduce the Delhi-Faridabad commute time by up to 40 minutes.

The elevated stretch has been constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 340 crores by (HCC) -Hindustan Construction Company and developed on build-operate-transfer (BOT).HCC has been allowed to levy toll from those using this stretch.

Car users will have to pay Rs 20 per trip for using this 4km-long elevated road, as per the NHAI notification. Jeeps and all other private light vehicles need to pay Rs 20 per single entry. The notification further says that light commercial vehicles need to pay Rs 30 and for buses and trucks one trip will cost Rs 60. All slow moving traffic like two & three wheelers will not be allowed to enter this stretch.

The travel time between Delhi and Faridabad will reduce significantly and it will also improve the connectivity to Agra. The project will also see major landscaping work, carpeting along the expressway and replanting of rare species of trees.

Widening Work on 26 KM Bypass Road in Full Swing
To reduce vehicular congestion on the busy Delhi - Mathura Road from Ballabgarh to the Badarpur border, the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) has started widening the Bypass Road to make it six lanes. The widening work has started at both the ends of the 26-km Bypass Road from Sector 59 and Sector 37.

This will provide a big relief to the travelers from Sector 59 in Ballabgarh to Sector 37 near the Badarpur border as well as the long distance travelers because they can avoid driving through the dense traffic on this National Highway-2 (NH-2) as the Delhi-Mathura Road bisects Faridabad in two parts, the intra-City transport impedes the movement of vehicles.

Widening /Repair Work on 1.5 Km Kheri Road

The repair & the widening work of 2.5 km stretch of road starting from Kheri Bridge passing through Bharatpur onwards towards Sector 88 on main Kheri Road has started. This will ensure smooth flow of traffic to the new upcoming Sectors like 88 & 89 in Faridabad.

Part of the road laid is of concrete to ensure long life. Proper drainage system has been planned along the sides of this road which will be started after the work on the road is completed.

Badarpur to Ballabhgarh Signal Free

Flyovers will be built across all the major seven crossings between Badarpur border and Ballabhgarh.
The project is part of the widening of Delhi-Agra stretch of NH-2, which will be expanded from the present four to six lanes. This will be the next round of massive road development work in Faridabad undertaken by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).The agency has already constructed an elevated corridor making the Delhi-Badarpur junction signal-free.

As per the widening plan, six-lane flyovers would be constructed at NHPC Chowk, Badkhal Lake, Old Faridabad Chowk, Ajronda Chowk, HUDA Residency, HSIIDC Chowk and Bata Chowk in Faridabad. At present, these intersections witness major snarls during peak hours and during night due to heavy movement of trucks on the highway. While the construction of flyovers would ensure non-stop movement for traffic heading towards Agra, it will also reduce the waiting time for vehicles heading towards different sectors of Faridabad.

The NHAI is going to award the widening of the 180km stretch between Delhi and Agra soon. Reliance Infrastructure has emerged as the preferred bidder for this project.

Once completed, the total travel time on this stretch will reduce drastically. The commuters will have to pay toll for each km they travel on this corridor. NHAI officials claim that after the completion of the project, it would take not more than two hours to cover the distance between Delhi and Agra as the maximum design speed on this stretch would be 100 kmph. The BOT project takes off from Delhi-Faridabad border, and goes through Agra and Mathura districts in UP and Faridabad in Haryana.
